It's been really nice.
But now I'm bored.
I think I used to be an interesting person, like, with creativity to spare and adventures to go on and, you know, a hobby or two. But since finishing school I'll be damned if any of the things I used to do feel very fun or fulfilling to me. I've knitted half of one scarf, picked up my guitar maybe twice, and read about a quarter of A Prayer for Owen Meany. None of it was getting me excited or much less bored.
I needed something new.
I have a good friend who is an amazing photographer. And the whole time I was in nursing school, he was doing a photo-a-day blog. I remember thinking how awesome it must be to have something so creative to fill your time, and such beautiful results to enjoy afterwards.
So I'm copying him.
Kind of.
He uses a pinhole and a Canon SLR and shoots on film. I got myself a Nikon D3200 with a 50mm f/1.8. I'm mostly interested in shooting people and urban scenes, but we'll see where I go. These are the first shots I got with the 50mm, and I already know I love it.
That real live beautiful orange masterpiece is Toby. I got Foxy at Fred Meyer after I picked up my lens. I'm sure I'll have some people to shoot soon, but I wanted a cooperative subject until then.
